I’m sure this happens, but I’ll argue that for people who consider themselves kinksters and where kink and BDSM is an integral part of their sexualities, the topic will be breached long before anyone gets romantically involved.

And seriously, if anyone ventured into a serious romantic relationship and waited months to let their partner know, let’s say, that they can’t orgasm without wearing a gas mask, I’d argue that’s an irresponsible and cruel way of playing with someone’s hearts—not to mention their precious time.

Because of this, I’m a huge fan of laying my cards on the table as soon as possible to avoid this ever becoming an issue. Because sex is important and being compatible (enough that you can develop together), is imperative.

Talking about sex and preferences on the first date(s) can seem a bit fast/much for some, but I think this has to change and also that it’s possible to do without the other person thinking it means that you definitely want to have sex with them.
